Three of our team members; Louis Ambroise, Nairah Thaha, and Fabian Pulido, entered the Snapchat “Think with AR” creative competition.
The creative brief was to design a Snapchat lens to encourage users to donate to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Their cause is to help children in countries affected by war.
The Snapchat filters were assessed based on three criteria; informing users of what is happening in Diffa, Niger, encouraging them to donate to MSF, and creativity. Below is the Snapchat filter our team conceptualized and produced:

The concept of holograms was invented in 1947 by a Hungarian engineer and physicist, Dennis Gabor. He received the Nobel Prize in 1971 for this invention.
The word “hologram” comes from the combination of two Greek words. “Holo” which means whole, and “gamma” which means message. A hologram essential refers to the display of the full message.
In 2015, the first highly interactive hologram was invented in Japan. It can respond to human touch. These touchable holograms are called “Fairy Lights.”
Holograms were enabled through the development of the laser. It is the only light that reacts as necessary to host the 3D projection.
Holograms can be faked. The ghost figures of Tupac and Michael Jackson that you have probably seen appear on stages to surprise many audiences are not actual holograms, but projections are hidden screens.

A trainee can be immersed in any kind of environment, and face any kind of emergency situation through Virtual Reality. VR provides a risk-free way to experience and explore different scenarios to give the trainee experience they need without putting their lives in danger.
Training content can be broken up into different categories. Scenario training, where users are immersed into different situations. Equipment training where they get to explore the different equipment that they are required to use. In VR, notes can be added to show instructions and trainees can experiment with the equipment to learn about it. Because this is digital resources are not wasted and a trainee can spend as much time with each piece of equipment as they need.
Through the VR experience, conversations with people can be simulated as well. This can be used to teach trainees about how to deal with the people at the scene of the emergency situation. They can learn how to deal with panic, crying, anger and frustration, as well as fear. People skills are essential to responding to emergency situations and can be developed through Virtual Reality Training.
Virtual Reality Training software also enables supervisors to monitor their trainee’s progress. This helps give an indication of areas where they excel, and areas that require improvement. This assists both the company and trainee to direct the training more effectively.
Projection Mapping is using video footage and displaying it over a 3D object to create a dynamic presentation. Projection Mapping is also referred to as ‘Spatial Augmented Reality” as it projecting digital information over a physical space.
How does Projection Mapping work?
Projection Mapping is the display of digital objects in the form of animated videos or recorded video footage onto 3D physical objects. It is different from flat-screen mapping as the visuals are able to appear wrapped around a 3D object – such as a building.
Why Projection Mapping?
Projection Mapping as an event activation or event display is a creative way to showcase information. It is interactive and brings an element of awe to the message you are portraying. Traditional means of getting information to your audience at events are dying out as “boring” as interactive technology make it more exciting.
Examples of Projection Mapping
Examples of Projection Mapping can be found right here in Dubai. Have you been to Dubai Festival City Mall and watched the fountain and light display? The fountain is used as a surface onto which video footage is projected.
Another example is where Fanta Middle East used Projection Mapping as a way to market their product at Dubai Mall.

One of the benefits of Virtual Reality is that a user can be immersed in any kind of environment, and experience a number of different circumstances as if they were actually happening. This is why Virtual Reality is the perfect training to tool for Health and Safety inspections.
