Fairy Lights; Holograms that respond to Human Touch

BY KAYLA NOBREGA

Holograms as a concept have existed since the 1940’s. Holograms currently exist by a variety of means, each with its own benefits and limitations.

One of the limitations of holograms is that they are not fully interactive. Trying to touch a hologram could interfere with how the lazer is reflecting the image, and so interrupt the holographic image on display.

This limitation has been overcome by a team of Japanese scientists from the Digital Nature Group. Using short lazer pulses at very short intervals, a hologram is created that can be felt. The hologram itself reacts to touch by changing shape or moving away.

Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2019 Event Activation

BY KAYLA NOBREGA

The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair was held at the end of April 2019, and it was Virtuality’s pleasure to partner up with Top Gear Promotions for the Comic Corner.

Visitors arrived at the event and received a booklet that they had to fill up with different things from the stands at the event. Our concept was to allow the exhibit visitors to create their own personalized comic book cover, by taking a photograph of themselves as one of their favourite DC heroes.

Whether they wanted to be Batman, the Joker, or Aquaman; visitors would stand for their photo in front of our booth. The photo was printed and then stuck on their booklets as their very own comic book.

Abu Dhabi Ports Augmented Reality Game for UAE Innovation Month

BY KAYLA NOBREGA

The beginning of February marked the start of the UAE’s Innovation Month. Throughout this month, there will be exhibitions all over the United Arab Emirates, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, showcasing the latest in technology and innovations.

Virtuality is proud to have been a part of Abu Dhabi Innovations Week 2019, alongside Abu Dhabi Ports.

We created an Augmented Reality game for the guests of the Innovations Exhibition to be able to interact with Khalifa Port’s operations.

Using ‘Image Tracking,’ users scan the trigger and Khalifa Port is augmented on the device.

How to make UAE National Day memorable

BY KAYLA NOBREGA

Today is the United Arab Emirates’ 47th National Day!

This day marks the joining of Ras Al Khaimah as the seventh and final Emirate of the UAE, which took place on the 2nd of December, in 1972.

This National Day finds itself at the end of the Year of Zayed; the 100th year since the birth of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who is considered the Founding Father of the UAE.

Over the past nearly fifty years, the UAE has seen growth in all areas, especially in the integration of new technology. It is our pleasure being a part of the growth of virtual and augmented reality implementation in the region.

To celebrate this year’s National Day, in the Year of Zayed, we have created a Snapchat filter for you! Take your next selfie with our UAE National Day filter and send it through to us to be featured on our social media.
