One of the most common problems with shopping online for clothing and shoes is not being sure of the size of the item. If you are anything like me, you have returned online purchases once or twice because the size you ordered does not actually fit.
After finding that 60% of people wear the wrong shoe size, Nike has announced that they will be using an innovative Augmented Reality measuring tool in their mobile application called ‘Nike Fit’ to solve this problem.
All the user has to do is stand against a wall, and hold their device over their sock-covered feet. Using Augmented Reality measuring tools, Artificial Intelligence, and algorithms, the Nike Fit app will scan your feet and let you know what shoes size you are.
This process takes up to a minute to complete.
Augmented Reality measurement tools are becoming more popular, and can be used on smart phone devices to measure things like furniture and room dimensions.
Holograms as a concept have existed since the 1940’s. Holograms currently exist by a variety of means, each with its own benefits and limitations.
One of the limitations of holograms is that they are not fully interactive. Trying to touch a hologram could interfere with how the lazer is reflecting the image, and so interrupt the holographic image on display.
This limitation has been overcome by a team of Japanese scientists from the Digital Nature Group. Using short lazer pulses at very short intervals, a hologram is created that can be felt. The hologram itself reacts to touch by changing shape or moving away.
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair was held at the end of April 2019, and it was Virtuality’s pleasure to partner up with Top Gear Promotions for the Comic Corner.
Visitors arrived at the event and received a booklet that they had to fill up with different things from the stands at the event. Our concept was to allow the exhibit visitors to create their own personalized comic book cover, by taking a photograph of themselves as one of their favourite DC heroes.
Whether they wanted to be Batman, the Joker, or Aquaman; visitors would stand for their photo in front of our booth. The photo was printed and then stuck on their booklets as their very own comic book.
Google has recently announced updates to Google search.
There are a few new features such as Google top stories, Google Assistant and Lens, Augmented Reality, and 3D objects. The one that has interested us the most is Augmented Reality.
Google is implementing Augmented Reality in their search results as a means for users to interact with their search topics in more depth.
For example; if you search up an animal, you can place the animal in your home, classroom, or workplace through Augmented Reality. This will allow you to interact with the animal, and view it from all angles. You can view its movement, and make learning about a topic more exciting.
This Augmented Reality feature in Google search will also work for online retail purposes. If you would like to see what a piece of furniture would look like in your home before you buy it, you can search it up on Google and augment it into the room.
The Augmented Reality update should be available by the end of May!
Three of our team members; Louis Ambroise, Nairah Thaha, and Fabian Pulido, entered the Snapchat “Think with AR” creative competition.
The creative brief was to design a Snapchat lens to encourage users to donate to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Their cause is to help children in countries affected by war.
The Snapchat filters were assessed based on three criteria; informing users of what is happening in Diffa, Niger, encouraging them to donate to MSF, and creativity. Below is the Snapchat filter our team conceptualized and produced:

Projection Mapping is using video footage and displaying it over a 3D object to create a dynamic presentation. Projection Mapping is also referred to as ‘Spatial Augmented Reality” as it projecting digital information over a physical space.
How does Projection Mapping work?
Projection Mapping is the display of digital objects in the form of animated videos or recorded video footage onto 3D physical objects. It is different from flat-screen mapping as the visuals are able to appear wrapped around a 3D object – such as a building.
Why Projection Mapping?
Projection Mapping as an event activation or event display is a creative way to showcase information. It is interactive and brings an element of awe to the message you are portraying. Traditional means of getting information to your audience at events are dying out as “boring” as interactive technology make it more exciting.

Examples of Projection Mapping can be found right here in Dubai. Have you been to Dubai Festival City Mall and watched the fountain and light display? The fountain is used as a surface onto which video footage is projected.
Another example is where Fanta Middle East used Projection Mapping as a way to market their product at Dubai Mall.
Your company already has content for the different operations that happen throughout the different departments. Are the booklets being read? Are the user and maintenance guides being used for their intended purpose?
People do not refer to guides unless they are needed, and when they are needed it is usually due to an urgent matter. Augmented Reality makes your content easily accessible and helps display it in a way that is easy to follow and understand.
Augmented Reality adds a layer of entertainment to the information as well. Content that is important can also be displayed in a way that makes it exciting to look at; AR does this in a way that makes sense and engages the viewer.
Use of Augmented Reality technology enables a company to have their own mobile application which can be used internally, or by consumers as well.

With that in mind, here are three things to consider when putting your social media content together according to your digital marketing plan.
The content that you put out there has a direct link to the way your audience perceives your brand and all it has to offer. The quality of your content tells your audience of the quality of your product and services. High quality images, videos, GIF’s, and written content help your audience perceive your brand as high quality, whereas low quality and unprofessional content gives the same impression of your brand.
Something to keep in mind about people is that we love to be included and involved. There are a few ways you can include and involve your audience through the content that you share. Captions that call your audience to an action, images that capture the viewer’s attention and invite them to take part in some sort of activity, or a video that allows the viewer to contemplate something that makes them relate to the brand. Always leave room for your audience to respond in some way to your content.
The best way to grow a loyal and engaging following is being consistent. Create an expectation for your audience and make sure you deliver on it in your content. If you are a brand that focuses on humour and wants their audience to laugh with them, they will be disappointed in any break of humourous content. If you are a brand that promotes health and reaches out to viewers that prioritize health and freshness, they will be disappointed if an element of unhealthiness or lack of freshness is shared. Make sure that all your content is creative, but that it aligns with why your viewers are attracted to your brand.
Social media is a great way for brands to showcase who they are and invite viewers to be a part of that.

Video content creation for social media is important because of the increase in engagement and ability to showcase a brand in more detail. Below are three things to keep in mind when coming up with ideas for video content.
Instagram can host a maximum of 1 minute per video as a post. Insta-stories are not as limited in duration. Neither are Facebook, LinkedIn, and obviously YouTube. However, a person’s attention span only lasts so long when it comes to videos on social media, and is largely based on the topic. It is found that videos ranging between 20 to 45 seconds are the best use of video time. The most effective videos are those that can convey a message in a creative way in the least amount of time.
The way your video starts is the most important part of it. It is your first chance to capture your audience’s attention so that they watch your video until the end. Using elements such as bright colours, big text, unusual subject matter, and captivating music is a good way to attract your viewers’ focus. If your introduction is not captivating enough, viewers may scroll past your video without giving it any thought. Instagram viewers spend on average 2 seconds looking at a post, so you have that amount of time to make them want to continue watching. On YouTube, advertisements are given 5 seconds before they can be skipped so creators have a relatively short time to make a good impression.
The conclusion of the video is the aspect that ties everything together. If a viewer reaches the end of your video and does not see the point of it, it is difficult to keep them coming back to your content. You do not want a strong introduction promising the video is worth watching and then letting your viewers down by not delivering on that. What helps with the flow of your video is knowing exactly what information you would like your video to share with your audience.
