Dubai is a world of its own, becoming bigger and more technologically advanced with each development and event.
Here we will discuss three areas where Dubai is making use of VR technology.
1. Gaming and Entertainment
One of Dubai’s most recent additions to its theme parks is the VR Park at Dubai Mall. Making use of VR and AR technology, VR Park immerses its visitors in different worlds for fun games and experiences that challenge reality.
Hub Zero and Virtual Worlds are other gaming facilities that makes use of virtual reality. These are a great alternative to outdoor theme parks in the summer heat!
Dubai is a world-favourite tourist destination, with over 15.8 million people visiting the city in 2017. It goes without saying, then, that the tourism industry is a huge generator of income in the UAE.
The Burj Khalifa – currently the tallest building in the world – uses VR technology to capture the attention of guests. A simulator immerses guests in a four minute parachuting experience from the top of the Burj and into the Musical Fountains.
Not everything in Dubai is about the fun and games. The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention announced that they will be implementing VR into the medical industry, making way for many benefits to patients.
VR technology has been scientifically proven to assist in overcoming a lot of the after effects that stroke patients experience. By being immersed into a different world, patients are able to go through rehabilitation in the comfort of their own homes instead of at a medical facility.
It will be interesting to see how VR, and AR, keep Dubai at the forefront of innovation.
